Ok, just kidding....there really isn't one! I know, I'm the worst bride EVER! Everyone keeps asking us when we're getting married and we still don't know. We haven't really even thought about it much at all. We just want to get through Ironman and then we'll go into wedding mode.
I guess the one update is that we've decided to do it sooner than next September. But still no date! haha After thinking more about it and realizing how small and simple it's going to be we said "why wait?!" I can probably plan it in a weekend if I had to and as simple as it's going to be I certainly don't need a year. So, it might be early summer instead, once all the snow melts of course. Hell, we might just go to Vegas-it's always warm there!

It's beginning to feel allot like Christmas!
It's been snowing for 2 days straight and we've gotten over 2 feet. It's only October so I'm a little nervous about what's to come this winter. It makes me want to pull the Christmas tree out of storage and put it up already. I can tell you that I have already pulled out my skis and they are anxiously awaiting my return from Florida so we can go bond on the slopes, it's been a while. Dear skis, oh how I've missed you so!
It's been an interesting Fall trying to train for Ironman. I have to say that I'm not a big fan of such a late race, especially living and training here in Colorado. By the time October rolls around I'm ready to do some other things and settle in to the colder temperatures. The indoor trainer rides were getting a little old and swimming outside when it's a blizzard is always a little tough. Thankfully we've recently wrapped up our heavy training and it's taper time. With the blizzard this week it was good timing because I didn't feel like I HAD to get out of bed to get in an early workout, I didn't feel like I needed to get outside in the frigid temps. So far I've enjoyed sleeping in and getting in what I CAN. Along with a massage and some cold laser exploration, it's been a good taper thus far.
Interesting story...3 weeks before Kona last year I was out on a ride, maybe 45 miles or so from home when one of my spokes snapped in my rear wheel. "How the hell do you break a spoke?" you might ask. Well, I know what it was from. I had damaged my wheel a bit (although I didn't realize it at the time) when I broke my derailleur hanger last year in a race. It swung up into my spokes and although I got it out and the derailleur was broken, I hadn't realized the damage it had done to my wheel. Thus, the broken spoke LAST year. Well, this year just a week ago, and again just 3 weeks before Ironman (coincidence I hope and not a new annual thing), I was about 40 miles from home and "PING" another spoke snapped. I was pissed! I quickly decided I wasn't going to sit on the side of the road and waste a perfectly good day and training stimulus so I ripped the spoke off, stuck it in my pocket, and ventured home. I've put some serious miles on these wheels since I bought them and I guess replacing just some of the spokes last year wasn't enough. I quickly ordered another wheel that weekend and was on my way within a few days. Not exactly what I wanted to spend $225 on but I didn't really have a choice.
We leave on Wednesday next week and I'm really getting excited to race. I'm hoping I come back with some solid results! I'm in the process of applying for some pretty exciting sponsorships for 2010 and I can only hope these results will help solidify a few of them. Fingers crossed!

4 1/2 Weeks To Go...
We are 4 and a half weeks out from Ironman and the training is continuing to build up to new heights each week. Last night I slept like crap so I can tell my body has some deep fatigue and it is simply going to be that way until taper begins. I can't eat enough, the lbs keep coming off, and I can't get enough sleep each day. I love the feeling of deep deep fitness but the chronic deep fatigue that comes along with it is more difficult to balance.
This week we took off Wednesday to get in a longer day. It worked out great because this weekend it is supposed to be in the 20s and snowing and Wednesday was in the 70s and sunny, AMAZING! We rode up to Horsetooth then I added on some extra to hit 114 miles. I was hoping for 120 but by 114 I'd had enough and was ready to call it a day. If next Wednesday is as nice I plan to take 1 more day mid-week to pile on the volume.
I had a bike fit a few weeks back at Retul and it is finally feeling really good. My saddle was a bit high at first and I felt some strange pings in my left ITB but I quickly remedied that and I'm feeling pretty good now. It's a much more aggressive aero position so I'm hoping it'll give my a little extra time overall. I'm feeling like my swim is right where I want it and my run is solid and stronger than it's ever been. I have a few more weeks to build some more fitness but I really think I need more structural training on my run than anything. I'm definitely feeling a bit more apprehensive about my bike this year. Even though my fit is good and I'm getting in some massive miles I feel like something just hasn't clicked yet. I can't put my finger on it exactly. I'm hoping with a few more weeks, a solid taper, and some speedy new wheels on race day I'll pull off a fast bike split on race day.
I hope everyone is having a fantastic Fall. Our Fall colors were amazing this year. The golden Aspens always make me revel in the beauty of Colorado a bit more than any other time of year. I think winter is going to roll in earlier than usual this year so I'm anxious to get through Ironman and hit the slopes.
